A Deeper Heart

  • Sow & Root Yoga & Well-Being Studio 2c Snuff Street Devizes, SN10 1DU Wiltshire (map)

In this workshop, Amelia will explore how a heartfelt conversation with the traditional primary roots of yoga, yamas (vows) and niyamas (observances), can be used to help navigate our personal practice. Nurturing peace and contentment internally, but also externally, influencing a kindness and selflessness in our actions and choices off of the mat.

We often think of yoga as what happens within the four corners of our rectangle yoga space; the postures, the breathwork and the savasana. That is where the physical practice happens, but if you’re receptive and curious, the practice can ripple outwards into the other corners of your life…

Within classical yoga texts (‘The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali’) there is timeless wisdom for how we can allow yoga, the entirety of the practice, to help us on our human journey. Outlined in this ancient manual are the 8 limbs of yoga, pathways, each of which offering guidance on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. One of these limbs is asana (poses), our physical practice that we are all so fond of, however this is the third limb, the first two are yamas and niyamas - a selection of ethical and moral principles.

For the mind ~ Starting with a discussion, an open and honest space. You will learn about these foundational building blocks of yoga and how they can be used as tools to help process both the subtle and gross complexities of modern life. A chance to listen, question, reflect and share.

For the body ~ You will then be guided through a Vitality Flow, heat-building and refreshing, a chance to have fun, play with balance and lighten your mood. You will learn to weave these powerful concepts into a variety of poses, supporting and enhancing your practice.

For the soul ~ To close, you will sink into a restorative yoga nidra meditation. Surrendering into absorption before sharing herbal tea, vegan cake and your experiences.

Come and delve deeper into the self. Join this journey of expansion and your practice may not only create a profound difference in you, but also in the well-being of the world.
