Moving with the Seasons

  • Sow & Root Yoga & Well-Being Studio 2c Snuff Street Devizes, SN10 1DU Wiltshire (map)

Join Beth this Spring as she guides you on how to adapt and enhance a yoga practice to flow with the natural phases of a menstrual cycle. An intimate experience that is open to all, a space will be held to nurture anyone looking to expand their knowledge on supporting each season of a cycle, uniting stillness, movement and breath.

Held within each of us is Shiva (masculine) and Shakti (feminine) energy. The power of Shiva energy is its’ cyclical nature. At times it is an unstoppable force and at other times there is a need to rest. In this workshop Beth will explain how we can take care of ourselves and/or others physically, emotionally and energetically during each phase.

Starting with an open discussion, a safe space to release any shame around your cycle and explore what you experience, you will then experiment with different supportive asanas and pranayama. Expect a variety of guided relaxation, movement and breathwork from heat-building and refreshing to rooting and deep rest. As energy levels change day-by-day, you will absorb how to not only meet, but embrace a body wherever they are on their journey.

To close, you will share herbal tea, vegan cake and cosy conversation!

Whether someone is still inviting a cycle, has moved into a different phase of life, has an irregular cycle or never bled, there is something to learn. A human who struggles with the ache of infertility still holds the power and vibrations of both feminine and masculine energy. A human who no longer bleeds still carries a surging spirit and potency within them. A human who battles the sensations that comes with every bleed still holds a softness and warmth within their body. A human who has never bled can still offer knowledge, enrich and foster balance.

We are as perfectly imperfect as anything else in nature, because we are nature. A body is an intricate and beautiful thing; it holds strength, it holds vulnerability, it holds wisdom. It is time to welcome, appreciate and nourish each undulating season of a cycle - to cultivate santosha (contentment) in life.

It is easier to feel at one with the world when we realize the world is us. Leave feeling empowered, deeply connected and with a heartfelt awareness of the natural, wild self
